Treatment Options
For most anorectal conditions several treatment options exist. Each has its own indications, advantages and limitations, and none is universally suitable.
Conservative management
Diet, bowel habit regulation and medical treatment are the first step in many conditions and are often sufficient in early stages.
Procedural and surgical options
- Office procedures for selected early-stage hemorrhoids
- Laser-assisted techniques in selected hemorrhoid, fistula and pilonidal cases
- Sphincter-preserving fistula techniques where anatomy allows
- Conventional excisional surgery when indicated
Comparing options
Method comparison is made individually. Published experience differs between techniques, and results reported in the literature cannot be promised for any individual patient.
