    Updated 2026-06-094 min read

Quality of colonoscopy depends on bowel preparation. Following the prep schedule carefully gives the most reliable result.

    Days before the test

    • Reduce high-fibre foods as instructed
    • Avoid seeds, nuts and skins
    • Review medications, especially blood thinners, with your clinician

    The day before

    • Follow a clear-liquid diet as advised
    • Take the bowel preparation according to schedule
    • Stay well hydrated with clear fluids

    On the day

Plan for sedation and arrange transport home. Inform the team about all medications, allergies and previous procedures.
